Menopause Café At a Menopause Café people gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss menopause. The objective is to increase awareness of the impact of the menopause on those experiencing it, their friends, colleagues and families, so that we can make conscious choices about this third stage of life. A Menopause Cafe is a group directed discussion of menopause with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a support or counselling session. We may split into small groups and you are welcome to just listen, although we hope you will join in on discussions. Our Menopause Cafés are offered:
Who is it for? Anybody interested in sharing their stories, experiences and questions about menopause. All genders and all ages. Men and women and inbetween. Old and young and inbetween. |

Finished
Over recent years, there has been a growing understanding of the powerful impact that the arts can have in healthcare settings. In 2007, The Department of Health issued its first ever review of arts in health which recognised that the arts “are, and should be firmly recognised as being integral to health, healthcare provision and healthcare environments, including supporting staff”. This session, hosted by Addenbrooke’s Arts (a programme funded by Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust), will include a short talk about the role of arts in health followed by a tour of the art collection in Addenbrooke’s Hospital. For more information about Addenbrooke’s Arts please go to: http://www.cuh.org.uk/corporate-information/services/non-clinical-services/addenbrookes-arts Donations to Addenbrooke's Art would be gratefully received! |

How to Be an Active Bystander
Finished
Have you ever been concerned about a situation affecting someone else at work and wanted to help, but didn't because “Everyone else seems to think it’s ok” or “Nothing will change anyway”? Have you ever heard a racist/sexist/homophobic joke in the tea room and felt uncomfortable? Watched a colleague wince at being belittled or interrupted in a team meeting and wished you could help? Seen an inappropriate touch of a friend and felt bad for them? You're not alone, we are all observers and bystanders simply by being at work. Come along to this short session to find out why this happens and what it means to be an active bystander. This includes simple changes and actions we can learn to use to support others around us and, over time, create a respectful and inclusive environment for all of us to live and work in. |
The international system is shifting from being unipolar to multipolar, just as the consequences of globalisation are creating huge inequalities within and between nations, and the prospect of interstate conflict rises. Two key outcomes have been the rise of populist leaders adept at using social media, and a re-emphasis on national rather than international values. This course taster will look at the changing tensions within the global system as individual states move to reassert sovereignty (such as Brexit) and heighten prosperity (such as America First and China's Belt and Road initiative), even as the world faces the huge challenge of climate change and the need for significant cooperation if the earth as we know it is to be saved. |
