Word 365: for Complete Beginners (Live Online using MS Teams) BeginnersPrerequisites
This is an online instructor-led course to help you get to grips with word processing basics using Microsoft Word. It will be taught in a small group and no previous knowledge is assumed. Following on, we offer further courses that build on these fundamentals to extend your skills including Skills for Document Layout.
For those who prefer to self-study there is an online course from LinkedIn Learning, the course can be accessed here for Mac and for Windows users. Sign in with your @cam.ac.uk email and Raven password.

- Basic computer skills i.e. familiarity with using a keyboard and mouse will be assumed.
- The course is aimed at beginners - no previous knowledge or experience of the software is assumed.
- Learn the basic features of Word
- Create a new document
- Use a range of font formatting techniques
- Format paragraphs
- Work effectively with features that affect the page layout of your document
- Inserting images
Instructor-led, demonstrations, hands-on, working from a workbook.
The course will be taught using Excel on a Windows PC, but will also be suitable for Apple Mac users. It is helpful to use two screens attached to your computer if available, the Teams meeting should be on one screen and the learning materials on the other screen. Please contact your instructor if you need advice regarding your computer set up.
Four hours in total with a 10 minute break each hour.
