Travel at Work


Description

This course is for everyone who has the responsibility for authorising members of staff to travel on University business. This includes fleet managers, those who authorise staff to drive pool vehicles or their own vehicles together with drivers of University vehicles. ‘Vehicles’ includes bicycles! The value of good management techniques is emphasised throughout.

Travel at work is different (in health and safety legal terms) from travel to work (commuting).

  • Current legislation and how it affects the work of the University
  • HSE activities and the RoSPA Managing Occupational Road Risk initiative
  • The University fleet and the various types of vehicles used within the University
  • Field work and the use of minibuses
  • Risk Assessment for using vehicles, along with examples of vehicle use from the participants' own experience
