This course covers the practical steps you need to take in order to ensure that work submitted for publication by University of Cambridge researchers is compliant for REF2021. We will introduce the principles of open access and open research, and guide you through the necessary steps to meet the open access requirements of REF2021. We will demonstrate key processes for uploading work to Symplectic, including choosing the right version of a work to upload. There will be plenty of time in the session to ask questions, and for you to try out uploading papers. This course will be useful to you if you:

Yellow Box Searching is 'advanced searching' in Amicus. You can use it to find specific selections of data or contacts from within Amicus. Many Amicus users use yellow box search in the first step to creating a mailing or inviting contacts to an event. This session will be aimed at specific users within CUDAR. You will be generating yellow box searches, then using a specific event report, to export the data into excel. |

Staff Survey Focus Groups

I am writing to invite you to attend one of a number of Focus Groups, where you will be asked to give feedback on questions relating to some of the outcomes of the staff survey. The session will last around 90 minutes. The aim will be to hear from everyone in the group and to seek different opinions and ideas, including: Your views about the staff survey; Your thoughts about improvements we can make related to the subject areas outlined below. Any additional comments you would like to make There are a number of conversations taking place to address the outcomes of the staff survey at both the University and Institution level. We are keen to hear from staff across all our Faculty and Departmental libraries, and from departments within the University Library building. The Focus Groups will look at the following topic area: Focus Group 2: Tuesday 20 August 10.30 - 12.00, 323A Board Room (Raised Faculty Building), Philosophy, Sidgewick Site. Objective: To explore improvements required in: Equality & diversity Career development and promotion processes Internal communications and staff engagement The focus will be on what needs to happen. Staff will take part in some fun activities to learn more about other departments within the Cambridge University Libraries, have a presentation from a member of the Leadership Team about the wider workings of the University and have time to check their HR24 Induction Checklists and meet other new starters. Designed to be more informal, this workshop is a great opportunity to meet other staff, make contacts and ask any questions that you may have come across in your first month of employment. |

Analysis of bulk RNA-seq data
Finished
The aim of this course is to familiarize the participants with the primary analysis of RNA-seq data. This course starts with a brief introduction to RNA-seq and discusses quality control issues. Next, we will present the alignment step, quantification of expression and differential expression analysis. For downstream analysis we will focus on tools available through the Bioconductor project for manipulating and analysing bulk RNA-seq. The training room is located on the first floor and there is currently no wheelchair or level access available to this level.
