Applying this, we will learn how to navigate the filesystem, manipulate text-based data and structure simple pipelines out of these commands. Building on this foundation, the course will use a bioinformatics example to demonstrate how the skills learnt can be applied to connecting to external resources/servers, installing specialist tools and ultimately combining commands into scripts for automation and reproducibility. This course is targeted at participants with no prior experience working with UNIX-like systems (OSX, Linux) or command line interfaces. The training room is located on the first floor and there is currently no wheelchair or level access available to this level. Cognos is a reporting tool that utilises data from CUFS to provide users with additional reports and options. This master class is designed to get existing CUFS users going with the reporting tool. It covers everything from running a report successfully as well as a number of useful tips and shortcuts. Note: What it does not do is go through in detail the outputs of each individual report. Less experienced users of the Grants and/or General Ledger modules in CUFS are recommended to attend instead one of the following courses:
These two courses not only cover the mechanics of running the reports but also more advice on how to interpret and use the information as well as discussion about when to use which report. |
This is an interactive workshop, designed to help new staff learn more about the Cambridge University Library, meet some of the key people who work in it and learn more about key library policies. |
