The Postgraduate Funding Project is working towards a big release in the Funding Management Portal in June 2023 and this roadshow will give colleagues an overview of the changes and benefits they can expect following the release. The roadshow will include contributions by the project’s sponsors, Prof Bhaskar Vira, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Education, and Mike Nicholson, Deputy Head of Education Services, situating the project’s work in the context of the University’s wider strategic aims and highlighting the positive impact it will have for both applicants and staff who engage with the system.
The June release will allow colleagues to use the Funding Management Portal to:
- Configure and collect funding applications through the Applicant Portal (GAP)
- Find eligible applicants for their funds
- Shortlist and share applications
- Assess applications for funding
- Update other funders in real time
The Funding Management Portal will also bring together all the information required for making informed decisions, such as real-time information about admissions statuses, other funders’ activities and applicants’ TOAST scores.

This roadshow will introduce you to the new Funding Management Portal and Funding Search, which will be going live on 8 July and 1 September, respectively. The Funding Management Portal is a new administrative interface that will allow funders across the Collegiate University to add information about their funds and (from 2022) managing the whole allocations and awards process for their funding. We will also present the new Funding Search (replacing the current system); this will give applicants a smoother and more tailored experience of searching for funding. Join us as we walk you through the new system, highlighting the benefits for you and how – together – we can improve the applicant experience in this area. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and give us your suggestions and feedback as future users of the system.

This instructor-led session will introduce you to the new Cambridge University Funding Management Portal and teach you to add and edit your funds so that they can be published on the new Funding Search.
You will be given a demo of the new system, followed by an instructor-supported opportunity to enter a fund for yourself on a training test site. The objective of this introductory session is to give fund administrators training on the new system so that they can add and update their own funds over the summer, before the new Funding Search is published for applicants in September.
You must have the following items installed or available on your computer to participate.
1. The Teams desktop app installed on your computer.
2. You will also need a working webcam, speakers (or headset) and mic.
Note: You need to be connected to the Cambridge University network to access the training test site or the actual Funding Management Portal. If you are working in the office and connected directly to the Cambridge University, you should be able to automatically connect. If you are working from a remote location (including from home), you will need to connect via the UIS VPN service. For details on how to do this please visit their information website: https://help.uis.cam.ac.uk/service/network-services/remote-access/uis-vpn.
