Directions

On entry to the New Museums Site from Pembroke Street, pass a bike cage on your left, walk around the low building to your left and enter the Austin Building. Walk through the double doors on the right of the lift (do not take the lift). Climb the stairs to the first floor with the entrance to the Austin Lecture Theatre on your left.

TO GET TO THE UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE COMPUTING SERVICE (NEW MUSEUMS SITE, PEMBROKE STREET CB2 3QG)

The Computing Service is on the New Museums Site in Pembroke Street (a one-way continuation of Downing Street) in the centre of Cambridge. The entrance to the New Museums Site is almost directly opposite Tennis Court Road; another useful landmark is the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

By car

Via M25/M11: Exit at Junction 12. Drive into Cambridge on the Barton Road (A603). When you reach a small roundabout, go straight on (NOT right into Fen Causeway). Continue until you come to traffic lights. Turn right into Silver Street and drive over a bridge over the River Cam, with Queens College on your left). Turn right at a T junction then 2nd left into Pembroke Street. The Lion Yard Car Park is just beyond the New Museums Site (if full or considered too expensive, you can get to the long-stay car park by turning right at the end of the street, although there are quicker ways of getting there, avoiding the queues).

By train

Train travellers are advised to take a taxi from the station, or one of the frequent buses to the city centre; from the bus station (Drummer Street) it is about 5 minutes' walk to the Computing Service.

Parking

Visitors should be aware that only disabled parking is available on the New Museums Site, and this requires prior notification.

There is limited one-hour parking by metered ticket in Free School Lane, and a short-stay (i.e. expensive) large multi-storey car park at Lion Yard, accessed from Corn Exchange Street. There is a cheaper long-stay car park about 15 minutes walk from the city centre at Queen Anne Terrace on Gonville Place, alongside Parkers Piece (a large open green area).

N.B. Allow plenty of time especially if planning to park at Lion Yard Car Park (see below) as there are often long delays due to traffic congestion. There are several Park & Ride services which get you to Drummer Street bus station, a few minutes walk from the New Museums Site.
