My Cambridge Application is a ‘Go’ for launch in September for the 2024 admissions cycle.

UIS is offering everyone the chance to join a virtual speed mentoring event. This dynamic learning and networking activity will provide the opportunity to speak to some of UIS’ senior leaders and managers from diverse disciplines.

A workshop exclusively for UIS colleagues who have been nominated to be buddies to support our new joiners.

UIS facilitates a mentoring scheme exclusively for the University's IT community and UIS' internal staff.

Mentoring can be a handy tool in supporting colleagues to develop their professional lives and careers, in both roles as a mentor and mentee.

This is a welcome event (Unit 3) and part of the UIS' Mentoring learning journey, for all mentees and mentors enrolled in the 20223-24 programme. This interactive workshop is designed to give an overview and introduction to mentoring, practice some essential skills needed for mentors and mentees, mistakes to avoid, and become familiar with some simple models and tools to support the mentoring partnership and maximise its value and impact.

• A discussion-style session with a brief overview of how IT works in the University of Cambridge, what is expected of an IT professional working within a College, Department or other University Institution, and what resources are available for you.
• Provided for any (relatively) new IT staff (or those who may have missed this).
• The session will also introduce opportunities to network with other University IT professionals, and key contacts for supporting IT staff.

During this session find out what Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is, why it is important and how you can use it to make your content more visible in search engines.

The Aspiring Managers Programme provides a structured pathway for colleagues preparing for their first supervisory/line management roles. It fosters the development of crucial skills, including effective feedback, handling challenging conversations, and utilizing leadership styles. The programme incorporates facilitators' input; opportunities for discussion, case studies, reflection, and sharing good practice with others moving into similar roles. It also includes curated e-learning resources to support colleagues' ongoing learning and development.

Participants are required to attend both half-day sessions.

During the summer the UIS content design team worked with the team in the Accessibility and Disability Resource Centre to refresh their website.

During this session find out how we reduced, reorganised and rewrote the website to create a new user experience.

We’ll tell you about the tricky aspects of the project, the successes and the things we’d do differently next time.

And of course we’ll answer your questions on how you can use these approaches too.
