Update on Frontline Services - Steve Hoensch 30 minutes
Steve will update on:
- Blue AD – A single Active Directory for the collegiate University, where we are, where we are going and information on the delegated management system (DMS).
- Desktop as a Service Project (DaaS) – Virtual and Physical workspaces, the direction for the UIS moving forward and a future offering to the wider University.
- Ivanti/HEAT - the current usage and future plans for the helpdesk/ITSM system used by the UIS Service Desk and other institutions in the University.
Vulnerability Scanning and the Friendly Probing Suite - Anna Langley 10 minutes
Vulnerability scanning is the regular process of identifying and reporting security vulnerabilities. The Friendly Probing Suite is the UIS system for performing vulnerability scanning on the University’s network. This is an introduction to the FPS and the OpenVAS scanner it is based on.
Institution File Storage Update - Chang Xi Sun 10 minutes
The IFS has gone from pilot phase to live, and this presentation will show the features we're offering in this launch (there will be future phases), how to access it, where to find information, and key contacts.
DevOps Developments - Abraham Martin 10 minutes
Abraham will give an update on ongoing plans with the new Media Platform, Lecture Capture Project, a cloud strategy and GitLab, a developers hub for the University
Update on Research Computing Services - Wojciech Turek 10 minutes
Wojciech will update on Research Storage Services which have just turned 2 years old. He'll introduce a new Research Computing Cloud service and update progress with the Secure Research Computing Platform project.
Security, Hybrid Cloud Integration and more - James Mears and Dell representatives 40 minutes
With security stories to share, Dell will highlight security trends and threat responses they are seeing in our industry globally, along with their Boomi cloud integration offering for connecting SaaS and on-premise systems (see: https://boomi.com/platform/integrate/applications/ ).
An afternoon session of approximately 2-3 hours. Attendees will have the option to attend preferred sessions during the scheduled break, if unable to attend the full afternoon
