In this virtual session, we are pleased to welcome Claire Michel. Claire manages several projects relating to undergraduate education. These include a Reimagining Professional Services local project for all professional staff members supporting undergraduate education in the School of the Biological Sciences. The aim is to share good practices, improve processes, and increase consistency across departments. The talk will give you an overview of the project and a chance to see how RPS can be applied locally.

As always, there will be an open discussion and opportunity to discuss the Continuous Improvement initiatives that delegates are involved in and seek advice from colleagues across the group.

The course is designed to give participants an overview of the history and principles of the Lean methodology, and an explanation of some of the basic tools used to make improvements to processes. This session will provide some basic tools that can be used immediately to facilitate a continuous improvement way of working

This course is accredited with the LCS (Lean Competency System), a certificate will be provided on completion of a short assessment.

We will discuss the benefits of mentoring and provide guidance on how to set objectives for the mentoring relationship and how to prepare for your first session together. We will also offer some tips about how to be a good mentee and mentor.

This interactive session aims to support our mentees to find a mentor. A selection of our currently available mentors will introduce themselves and share a little bit about their background, knowledge, and experience. It offers the opportunity for mentees to get to know some of our available mentors and consider whether they may be a good potential match. There will then be time for questions so that you can consider which potential mentors could best support your growth, learning, and career development.

Join us for our first Project Management Community of Practice In-person Networking event.

After the success of our first online networking session in February, the PM CoP are pleased to announce we will be holding regular in-person sessions.

Our next session is Thursday 13th July, in the Milstein Room, Cambridge University Library.

Whilst it is an open opportunity for people to get together in person, we recognise that meeting a room full of strangers can be daunting. Therefore we will be theming the sessions, to help guide initial conversations. The theme on 13 July will be Networking, asking questions such as:

What is networking?

What are the benefits of networking?

How do you network?

What if you don’t like the idea of networking?

So come and join us in person to meet others in the PM community over a cuppa.

Please note: Hot and cold drinks can be purchased from the University Library Tea Room (https://www.lib.cam.ac.uk/using-library/person-services/practical-information-your-visit/tea-room-and-refreshments). The Tea Room is also available to eat lunch in before or after the networking session. You are free to bring your own food, or to purchase some, from the Tea Room.
