The Research Support Showcase is a unique event, bringing together research support teams from across the University.

So do you:- Need funding for your research idea Want new ways to disseminate your research and reach new audiences Want to commercialise your research or expertise Want to know how the Engineering Research Office can support you and your research group Want help getting your ideas from the ‘drawing board’ into reality Have queries about any of the University research systems such as Symplectic elements, Apollo

Then come along to the Research Support Showcase at the Electrical Engineering Café where experts can help you with all of this and more. In as little as 10 minutes you could have all of your research support queries answered. In one place we have teams from Research grants, Cambridge Enterprise, Cambridge University Libraries and from Engineering we have the Research Office, Marketing and Comms, and Workshops all ready to help you move your research to the next stage.

The Research Support Showcase will be at the Electrical Engineering Café on Wednesday February 5th, we are open for 2 hours from 12-2pm and you can drop in at any point. This event is open to researchers, administrators and postgraduate students. Lunch will be provided

A managing your data session for Energy Tech / Nuclear Energy MPhil students

Learn how and why to keep your information and data organised, stored and accessible by creating a Data Management Plan. The session will cover: What data are you using?, Creating vs reusing data, Storage, organisation and version control, Data safety and backing up, Sharing your data. Please bring a laptop or other web-enabled device with you to the session. Slides from the session will be made available on Moodle.

A poster design session for undergraduate students in the Department of Engineering

Find out how to create effective posters to illustrate your research. This session will cover: Design basics, Readability and layout, Planning and editing your poster, and presenting with your poster.

Ferenc Huszár (formerly a PhD student at CBL, now ML research at Twitter in London) will be leading an informal session/debate on social media for research. Ferenc has extensive experience in blogging (https://www.inference.vc) and using twitter to address the ML community. Come with questions!

A writing for reports session for undergraduate students in the Department of Engineering.

Learn to identify the characteristics of a good report. From an accurate, concise and persuasive writing style to a well organised, well-presented layout and format.

This workshop will help you understand the purpose of a report, how to plan it and how best to structure it in terms of presentation and layout. It will also offer 'good advice' on what you should (and should not) do.
