By the end of the session, X-ray users should be able to:
- Describe the main risks of using X-ray generators
- Explain why risks must be controlled
- List the types of measures used to control risks
- Describe duties for risk control
- Explain what to do if there is a problem
To provide information on radiation risks and precautions and the requirements of University of Cambridge (which comply with IRR 2017), in preparation for the attendees receiving hands-on training on use of specific X-ray equipment at the Department of Physics.
To assist in compliance with Department of Physics procedure on managing risks from ionizing radiation.
Presentation
There will be a short written quiz at the end of this session. Please bring a pen.
Please note - If the session is listed as being held in "Rutherford Seminar Room", this relates to room 980B on the first floor of Rutherford Building.
Participation at the University of Cambridge Safety Office X-Ray Generators and Other Equipment Generating Ionising Radiations is an alternative and will provide exemption from this session. Evidence of other similar training will also be considered - please contact Saba Alai (sa792@cam.ac.uk; 01223 337397).
