This is an interactive workshop, designed to help new staff learn more about the Cambridge University Library, meet some of the key people who work in it and learn more about key library policies.

Staff Survey Focus Groups new Finished 15:00 - 16:30 Cambridge University Library, Milstein Room

I am writing to invite you to attend one of a number of Focus Groups, where you will be asked to give feedback on questions relating to some of the outcomes of the staff survey. The session will last around 90 minutes. The aim will be to hear from everyone in the group and to seek different opinions and ideas, including:

 Your views about the staff survey;

 Your thoughts about improvements we can make related to the subject areas outlined below.

 Any additional comments you would like to make

There are a number of conversations taking place to address the outcomes of the staff survey at both the University and Institution level. We are keen to hear from staff across all our Faculty and Departmental libraries, and from departments within the University Library building. The Focus Groups will look at the following topic area:

 Focus Group 1: Tuesday 13 August 15:00- 16:30 Milstein Room, UL West Road

Objective: To explore improvements required in:

Equality & diversity Career development and promotion processes Internal communications and staff engagement The focus will be on what needs to happen. Survey comments- Survey comment- Career development/promotion processes are fair Survey comment- Able to contribute my views before changes are made Survey comment- Individual differences are valued

Cambridge University Libraries Staff : Induction Workshop: Part II new Finished 14:00 - 17:00 Cambridge University Library, IT Training Room

This is an interactive workshop, designed to help new staff learn more about the Cambridge University Library and meet some of the key people who work in it.

Staff will take part in some fun activities to learn more about other departments within the Cambridge University Libraries, have a presentation from a member of the Leadership Team about the wider workings of the University and have time to check their HR24 Induction Checklists and meet other new starters. Designed to be more informal, this workshop is a great opportunity to meet other staff, make contacts and ask any questions that you may have come across in your first month of employment.

Cataloguing Training : Using Cataloguing Rules RDA and AACR2 new Finished 09:15 - 16:00 Faculty of Divinity, Room 3

Learn cataloguing in a day! – an intensive course for beginners. We will cover RDA and AACR2 cataloguing rules including use of the RDA Toolkit online, we will do some practical cataloguing and look at some of the theory which underpins the cataloguing rules. Course leader: Fiona Grant and others

One day workshop for CUL Managers

L&D will contact workshop attendees approximately 3 months after the training with some basic questions to see how effective found the training and how training learnt from has been applied into work practice.
