CULP: German Basic 2 Prerequisites£
The Programme offers general language tuition with a focus on communicative competence.
At basic level the focus is on every day and real-time, oral/aural communication. Each course features a functional-notional syllabus and grammar points are analysed in context.

This course is appropriate for students who already possess a little knowledge of the German language.

The course introduces students to the following functions and notions:
- Greetings
- Introducing yourself
- Saying which languages you speak
- Talking about your occupation
- Saying where and when you were born
- Talking about your family
- Where you live
- Your accommodation
- Saying who you live with
- Your hobbies/Interests
- Talking about your weekend
- Your daily routine
- Going out for a meal
- Directions
- Work/Study
- Talking about the past
- Health; buying and cooking food
- Planning a holiday; traveling
- To provide a basic knowledge of German language and culture.
- To understand and to be able to use grammatical structures and vocabulary.
- To strengthen a positive and confident attitude towards language learning
- To be able to understand and exchange general as well as more detailed information in the target language on a range of everyday issues at a basic level.
- To be able to greet other people, informally and formally
- To be able to say which language(s) you speak, what your occupation is, including details of your subjects of study
- To be able to say where you live
- To be able to speak about your hobbies
- To be able to make a restaurant booking, read the menu
- To be able to ask for and to give directions
- To be able to talk about the subject(s) you are studying
- To be able to talk about your past
- To be able to make an appointment over the telephone
Presentations, practicals and online learning
- Raven access is required

- Students: £170 to be paid online (select 'Concessionary').
- Staff including Colleges and UCLES* staff: £185 to be paid online (select 'Full'). (* provided they are eligible to/can obtain a Raven password)
- Links to the online store will be provided with your confirmation email.
- Payment is required within 24 hours of your booking to secure your place.
- Refunds available after the first lesson only.
- It is the student's duty to plan ahead and make sure they can cope with their study workload.
- Students are required to attend 80% of sessions
