There is an increased emphasis on managing and sharing data produced in research. Many of the research funders supporting work at the University of Cambridge require that research data are openly available with as few restrictions as possible.

Research data management is a complex issue, but done correctly from the start, could save you a lot of time and hassle at the end of the project; when preparing your data for a publication or writing up your thesis. Research data takes many forms, ranging from measurements, numbers and images to documents and publications.

This session aims to help you get started with managing your data by introducing you to key principles around organising, storing, archiving and sharing your data. You will also learn how to create your own Data Management Plan.

Tue 1
Time Management Session - Online via Zoom new Finished 12:00 - 13:00 Department of Engineering Online

Time is the most valuable commodity for any person or organisation, and everybody has different ways of ‘managing’ it. Sometimes these approaches are driven by situations or even habits. Organising your time is about the choices you make, the amount of time you have is finite! In addition if you manage others you have the responsibility of using their time effectively and delegating appropriately.

Are factors such as procrastination, lengthy meetings and time ‘hijacking’ sapping the time available? If you’re not entirely happy with the way you use your time, this course provides the basis for organising yourself and your time, providing lots of tips.

This is a 1 hour online session on the 1st October, 12:00 - 13:00, which will be hosted on Zoom with Keith from Wiz. The Zoom link and joining details will be in the joining instructions.

Please note, this is an external provider. If you have any issues with booking this course or do not see the the Zoom link details, please do email staff-training@eng.cam.ac.uk.

The session will happen between 9:30 - 12:30. You only need to attend 1 session. This is the same session repeated.
