Department of Engineering course timetable
October 2024
Tue 1 |
Time is the most valuable commodity for any person or organisation, and everybody has different ways of ‘managing’ it. Sometimes these approaches are driven by situations or even habits. Organising your time is about the choices you make, the amount of time you have is finite! In addition if you manage others you have the responsibility of using their time effectively and delegating appropriately. Are factors such as procrastination, lengthy meetings and time ‘hijacking’ sapping the time available? If you’re not entirely happy with the way you use your time, this course provides the basis for organising yourself and your time, providing lots of tips. This is a 1 hour online session on the 1st October, 12:00 - 13:00, which will be hosted on Zoom with Keith from Wiz. The Zoom link and joining details will be in the joining instructions. Please note, this is an external provider. If you have any issues with booking this course or do not see the the Zoom link details, please do email staff-training@eng.cam.ac.uk. |

Handling Challenging Conversations
[Places]
Communication in any organisation is complex and challenging. This is particularly so in the diverse community of a University where there are emotive internal and external communications that often have a significant impact. This can create emotive responses which can be challenging to handle. Self-awareness as well as an awareness of others' needs is crucial and this workshop is a chance for members to explore in more detail their own approach to having challenging conversations and to further develop some strategies that work for you, as well as understanding other tools that could help. The session will happen between 9:30 - 12:30. You only need to attend 1 session. This is the same session repeated. Light refreshments will be provided, please email staff-training@eng.cam.ac.uk for any dietary requirements or adjustments. |
