Theme: Valuing Diversity

Delivered in a safe and supportive environment, this harassment prevention training offers individuals the opportunity to learn about the different factors that might create and perpetuate a work environment in which harassment and bullying occur, and strategies for how to address this.

Have you ever been concerned about a situation and wanted to help, but didn't? Hearing a racist/sexist/homophobic joke in the tea room? Seeing an inappropriate touch of a friend? Watching a colleague wince at being belittled or interrupted in a team meeting? You're not alone, this is more common for many of us than you might think.

Come along to this short session to find out why this happens and what it means to be an active bystander. This includes simple changes and actions you can take to support others around you without confrontation and, over time, support a more inclusive environment for all of us to live and work in.

Have you ever been in a team meeting where no one voiced their opinions, there was a lack of discussion, and everyone simply went along with the most senior person?

A high performing team is one that is able to bounce ideas off each other, problem solve, and feel comfortable that no one will not be humiliated for speaking up with ideas, questions, concerns or mistakes. But how can this be achieved?

In this course, we explore what psychological safety looks like in a hybrid environment, what gets in the way of us speaking up, and the science-backed strategies to become a psychologically safe team in today's modern working world.

From adopting a strategic approach to developing talent in order to deliver objectives, to understanding key strategies for developing your team at each stage of the employee lifecycle, this interactive and participative workshop offers you the opportunity to consider how to develop strength in your team, enhance motivation and wellbeing as well as share your experiences with others.

Leadership Essentials is a key programme suitable for those with responsibilities for the work, behaviour and development of others. The programme aims to help managers refresh and build their skills and experience in this area, as well as clarifying key responsibilities of manager and leader. It focuses on critical areas, such as giving and receiving feedback effectively and handling challenging conversations, using leadership styles and models to support individuals and teams. The programme incorporates tutor input; opportunities for discussion, case studies, reflection and sharing of good practice with others with similar responsibilities. It also includes curated e-learning resources to support managers with their ongoing learning and development.

Participants are required to attend both half day sessions.

Unconscious Bias happens automatically, without conscious control, when our brains make quick judgements or assessments about people and situations. Combatting unconscious bias isn’t about blame. It’s about accountability.

This session will provide an introduction to implicit or unconscious bias and will help you start to understand how our biases influence the decisions we make.
