This course is the continuation of the introduction level to Persian Language and Culture. The focus is on every day and real-time, oral/aural communication. Each course features a functional-notional syllabus and grammar points are analysed in context.

Topics covered: The course introduces students to the following functions and notions:
- Shopping, Understanding the price;
- Describing countries, cities;
- Talking about the past; Telling about the weekend.
- Offering, refusing, and accepting;
- At the airport: at the passport desk; At customs; In the arrivals hall;
- At the hotel: Finding a suitable hotel room; Checking in at the hotel;
- Reading short texts in Persian
- Ordering tea, coffee and other drinks
- Making requests
- Asking and Giving Address
- Giving instructions and orders (using imperative)
- Talking about routine day
Objectives: By the end of the Course students will be able to:
- Listening/Speaking: Understand basic instructions or take part in a
basic factual conversation on a predictable topic.
- Reading: Understand a set of basic notices, instructions or
information.
- Writing: Complete forms, write words, a whole sentence and a
paragraph.
Aims:
- To further develop a basic understanding and an appreciation of the salient linguistic features;
- To establish the learner as a fairly confident language user in a range of every-day predictable situations;
- To introduce students to the cultural background of the Iranians within the context of language teaching.
